Welcome on the new website of the Media Art Friesland Foundation. [Visual Lanuage] is the guiding theme of the eight edition of the Media Art Festival Friesland in 2004. A motto that triggers a multitude of (re)actions.
Prominent are the exhibitions and presentations at six locations in Leeuwarden, Drachten and for the first time this year also in Harlingen .
Exhibitions in gallery Romein in Leeuwarden and Museum Smallingerland Drachten show over 19 multimedia installations of students of Dutch Academies of Arts.

At the Frisian Museum you can see the film Living a Beautiful Live of Corinna Schnitt (GER) and the video Utrechter Huette by Franz Hoefner (GER).Foundation Keunstwork in Leeuwarden offers the presentation of José Miguel Biscaya ( Portugal ). The Art House Mij-September in Harlingen shows the installation Reforms of Kristina Kersa (EST). Café and gallery Lahringen in Harlingen gives entrance to the night photography of Harlingen by Ővgű Őzen (GER).
The video library in gallery Romein and Museum Smallingerland gives access to view the works on your own
And the nominations of the Media Art Price 2004 are to be seen in gallery Romein. Traditionally the Media Art Price of 500 euros will be awarded to an international student with the most upcoming artistic talent.
The Videosalons, the video and film program at Theater Romein, gives an insight in contemporary art works of the last three years. Artist society Zilt is the surprising location for a humoristic audiovisual evening.
Together with our partner, the Northern College of Communication & Multimedia Design (NHL), and the collaboration with the College of Media & Entertainment Management (CHN) the Experience [Visual Language] is (re)born. Media specialists and artists report on their background and methods and will be open for questions from the audience. They (re)present the motto [Visual Language]. Linking up EBOMAN AS DVJ (audio visual laptop DJ) surprises with his extraordinary new performance called DVJ SHOW.
Furthermore new strategies are set with the ‘artist in residence’-project. This laboratory serves for young promising artists with prospect for support and development of new work.
We thank all our partners, funds and sponsors as well as the staff of the host and festival locations and all volunteers who make the realisation of the festival possible.
