MAFF maintains intensive contact with academies in the Netherlands and abroad. This provides a continious stream of audiovisual art by students. Out of 111 entries from 15 countries 30 works are selected for the Video salon program. 10 Nominations are selected for the International Student Media Art Friesland (ISMAF) Award of 500,- euro. Marie-Jeanne Ameln (Galerie Sign Groningen), Sabine Niederer (Network Cultures Amsterdam), Albert van der Kooij (directeur Academie voor Popcultuur Leeuwarden) en Sjanet Bijker (Kunsthuis SYB Beetsterzwaag) took part of the selection committee.

International exhibitions of student works are also presented at the Boulevard/ Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland, the TEM Galerij/ Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden, in de hall of the Academie voor Popcultuur all in Leeuwarden, and at Galerie Sign in Groningen.
