Rob Donkers (Rotterdam) and Hannah Talbot (London) are invited for the Artist in Residence project 2005.

Rob Donkers - Koekoeksklub

Koekoeksklub is a concert by robotised cuckoo clocks. Every quarter of the hour the clocks make a real time composition. One by one they give the time and turn each other on for a whistle concert. Each cuckoo clock has its own character, but is sensitive for other clocks. Dependent on the tone of one clock whistling others will join in.
The software takes care of the generation of each composition by the information it gains from the whistling of the clocks.

Rob Donkers (Gouda, 1977) studied interactive multimedia at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam. During his studies he programmed audio- en video effects together with Eboman (Amsterdam). Since Donkers cum laude graduated in Januari 2005 he jumped into the real-time handling of image, sound and mechanical objects. Projects are often presented as a performance of installation. His graduation work Wolk (Cloud) was shown in several location in Rotterdam. Donkers is co-founder of the Rotterdam artist collective 113b that focuses on contemporary art en exposes on events.

Hannah Talbot - Odd Fascinations of Unexpected Angst

Odd Fascinations of Unexpected Angst is a sight specific project that aims to encourage exploration and interaction. The research starts with forging links within the local community. Interviews and workshops explore themes surrounding our anxieties and fears. The objective by investigating the use of voice and the body to create stimulus, is to produce a installation that investigates immersive environments through the mediums of light, sound, video projection and live presence. The final exhibition will be an image and sound installation set in the parameters of a gallery space. Within a darkened environment the spectator’s cooperation emerges as the element of the installation providing a subjective tangible experience.

Graduating in 2004 with a first class honours in Dance and Visual Arts from The University of Brighton Hannah Talbot (Winchester, 1981) gained the Burt Brill and Cardens and The Nagoya award for outstanding Artist Achievement. ‘A Family Saga Episode One’ the sound and image installation received recognition at the National Review of Live Art, February 2005. This success resulted in an invitation for the Festival in 2006 at the Tramway venue in Glasgow. Collaborative work include the three screen ‘In Limbo’ (2003) exhibited at Brighton’s University, ‘The Peach and the Pair’, performed at the Tilburg Dance Festival (2003) Resolutions! (2005).
Hannah is currently pursuing an ongoing working relationship with Blast Theory an international visual art company working in the realm of new media and new technologies.
