Specially for this workshop, they made a new film that will premiere here. Participants practice and develop a sound composition for the film premiere.
History of video and Theremin : 28 september, 14.00-15.00h

Eric & Mary Ross show and discuss their work from 30 years of music and video art. Eris Ross demonstrates the use of the Teremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments. He gives an overview of this fascinating instrument since its inventions in 1919 and its use through Hollywood (1940-1950), the Beach Boys (1960) and now. Participants learn of the early beginnings of media art, rediscover old techniques, ask questions, share experiences and learn new techniques that can be used with digital camcorders and computers.

Ultimedia concept
A unique performance in the style of video art pioneer Nam June Paik (1932-2006). Eric & Mary Ross (USA) started their collaboration in performance with music and video in 1970, before the event of MTV. Mary describes her video work as ‘imaginary stories’ that enrich the musical compositions of Eric with colour, shape and energy. Eric plays the Theremin, electronic guitar and keyboards.
Landed Takes & Sound Times
Music and film go together hand in hand in this performance. Simple and therefore witty 16mm film recordings and specially composed music. The 16 mm sequences in Landed Times by Telemach Wiesinger each last three minutes. Sound Times by Andreas Gogol exists of improvisations that expand the vidual space with sound collages and experiments. They won the TEAM WORK AWARD for this performance at the 20th Stuttgart Filmwinter, Festival for Expanded Media, in January 2007.
Jean Parlette

Jean Parlette is a quartet that performs the sample based folktronica of Jos Blomsma (NL) live. Now he has brought a band together to sound his refreshing mix of electronic and classical instruments at the various pop stages. Jean Parlette can be compared to acts such as Tunng and the Notwist.
Remixing The Past
With this experimental VJ-set, Max Hattler edits the communal lifestyle of his parents in Germany of the 70’s, and in particular his father’s success in Krautrock’s band Kraan. The progressive rich and free jazz soundtrack of Kraan accompanies the super-8 images. Experience a hippy lifestyle ideal in a sun filled expedition through the fields and forests of a community.
Bits and Pieces
This animation project by Nils Mühlenbruch (NL), also known from Drifter.tv, gives a kaleidoscopic view of the world around us. The brightly coloured animations that are based on ‘lost moments’, situations that take place on the very edge of vision, are recognisable and surrealistic.
