As part of the Media Art Festival, VHDG shows contemporary British video art with the title: across the channel. The programme consists of a large number of short video-films that were produced in the past years by artists of English origin, or artists living in England, such as George Barber, Benn Dodd, Ori Gersht, Runa Isla and Saskia Olde Wolber. VHDG has collaborated on this presentation with two top of the league institutions from London: Single shot and tank.tv
biographies
Single Shot awards assignments to both known artists and young talent to make a short film with one restraint only: it has to be recorded within one shot. Parts of the Single shot programme have been shown before at the Tate Britain in London and the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid.
tank.tv is an international online stage for innovative video art and part of the glossy cult(ure) and fashion magazine Tank magazine. Since its founding in 2004, tank.tv has built a large archive and collaborated with the ICA London and the Kurtzfestival Oberhausen.
Both organisations show a collection from their archives with tank.tv also show the very recent productions Fresh Moves. Moreover, tank.tv made a selection from the VHDG archives. The work of these artists will be exhibited for one and a half months on the online stage of tank.tv.
