LAURIE HILL wins INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MEDIA ART AWARD 2007

On Saturday 29 September the nominated films were presented in the film theatre of festival centre Amicitia in Leeuwarden after which the prize of 500,- euro was awarded by the Media Art Festival to Laurie Hill for her work ‘My life at 40’.

Laurie Hill (1973 Nordfolk, Great Britain) graduated form the Royal College of Art in Londen in 2006 with ‘My life at 40’. “I’m not 40 yet, but I think ahead. Only six more years to go”. ‘My life at 40’ is a special cooperation between the artist at age 12 and her life at present at age 34. Both look to the future as a forty year old conservation hero.

INCENTIVE PRICE

The incentive prize was awarded to Twan Bastiaansen with ‘Visions from the color of earth and the black of night’.

 

 

 

 

 

Students from around the globe can submit their work for the ISMAF AWARD. The panel of judges consisted of Tijmen Hauer, filmmaker and curator Amsterdam, Marten Winters, artist and curator Leeuwarden, Marie-Jeanne van Ameln, Galerie Sign Groningen and Nadine Bors. Their criteria where, amongst others, intention, storyline/narrative, technical presentation, originality and the relationship between image and sound.
During the Media Art Festival 2007 all works nominated for the ISMAF AWARD 2007 were exhibited in the Videoskoop at Galerie Sign in Groningen.

Media Art’s 12th scouting tour of the Dutch Academies

Like every summer the Dutch academies are showing their best emerging young talent in their end-of-year shows. This year Media Art Festival's 12th Young Talent show, 3 - 14 september, will be showcasing just those students for their artistic promise and poise.
