WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Below you can find a number of possibilities for you to take up for an extracurricular study credit, internship, of as a volunteer:

  • making items for radio, tv and internet
  • writing reviews and press releases
  • setting up, constructing exhibitions
  • tour guide/ host
  • technical assistent : light, sound, AV or computer
  • judging international student films
  • database development
  • archiving our media library
  • administrative duties such as mailings etc...

INTERNSHIPS

Media Art Friesland is the place for your internship for enthousiastic and ambitious MBO - and HBO students looking to gaing experience in the field of event management. The minimum level for this position is MBO 3 or 4.

Moreover, Media Art Friesland is ECABO certified as an approved learning orgnisation for MBO.

Short or longer internships can be filled in the position of:

PR / Communication

For who enjoys writing and wants to gain more experience with texts for press releases, the website and publicity materials

Production assistant

This is the palce tob e for those with a birdseye view and a passion for organising. Your duties will include coordinating mailings, catering, decoration, volunteer management and many more.

Database development

For a true control freak, building a databse for addresses and visual materials should be a real challenge.

Since 1995 Media Art Fiesland has collected films and videos. The archive gains interest from fellow organisations, press and students. This internship offers the opportunity to develop a solid database in cooperation with the director and a programmer, unlocking material and making it available to the public and collecting background information.

Secretary

This is the place for someone who enjoys keeping a bird’s eye view and organising. All e-mail contact will go by you, but you will also coordinate mailings and keep up any address changes and many other tasks.
Amongst other things, you will assist the director in her research. This entails: requesting preview materials, organising information, attending editorial meetings, data processing, and many more.
Level MBO 3 or 4.

All internships are recommended for anyone who wants to learn a lot in a short amount of time, who enjoys independence, has good communication skills, and wants to see a lot of film, video and digital art.

INTERNSHIP with MEDIA ART FRIESLAND

Media Art Friesland offers a number of different opportunities for internships, We prefer an internship where different tasks (such as above) can be combined over a longer period of time. However, we are also open to project specified part-time internship, in which the intern will become acquainted with the many aspects of the organisation. It is also possible to combine the internship with a research/thesis. We do requuire the following;

  • Computer literate
  • Good Dutch and English language skills
  • Accuracy
  • Enthusiasm and disciplined work ethic
  • Immune to stress
  • Understanding of (media) art

MEDIA ART FRIESLAND offers...

Media Art Friesland is a small organisation. This means you will experience many diverse aspects of an arts organisations. We stimulate this by planning regular progress meetings. Moreover, the intern will be regarded as a full-fledged member of the team.

Media Art Friesland is an established member of the arts field. As Media Art Friesland focuses on multiple art disciplines, both national and international, we have an extensive network of relations. During an internship the student will gather many valuable contacts. We also indicate interesting openings, symposiums, etc to students. It may be possible for the student to join us on working visits. Another interesting aspect is the way in which Media Art Friesland always uses host locations. This means behind the scenes experience at various museums, theatres, galleries, film theatres, etc.

Media Art’s 12th scouting tour of the Dutch Academies

Like every summer the Dutch academies are showing their best emerging young talent in their end-of-year shows. This year Media Art Festival's 12th Young Talent show, 3 - 14 september, will be showcasing just those students for their artistic promise and poise.
