Call for entries

Deadline: 25 juli 2008

The 12th Media Art Festival for Film and Video and the 30th Noordelijk Film Festival (Northern Film Festival) in Leeuwarden invite all artists, filmmakers, producers, distributors, gallery owners, universities and institutions to submit their latest works. Works may be selected for the international media art competition and several additional programmes, such as Face to Face and Solar Cinema.

International media art competition will present the most challenging and innovative video art works of the past two years. The laureate of the international media art competition will be awarded for an outstanding audiovisual production, selected by an independent jury.

Face to Face takes place in a ‘single visitor inflatable cinema hall’, in which the film and video protagonists address their private audience face to face. Works submitted for this program may be older than two years.

Solar Cinema is the first Dutch mobile outdoor cinema exclusively run on solar energy. Solar Cinema will surprise and seduce local audiences throughout the city of Leeuwarden in the days before and during the festival with several short film programmes.

All three programmes are a collaboration between the Media Art Festival and the Northern Film Festival. The film and video program as organized by the Media Art Festival in preceding years has therefore changed dates to 5-9 November, when the Northern Film Festival takes place. The festival will present around 150 feature, documentary and experimental films and videos at several venues in the city of Leeuwarden.
