The Media Art Friesland Foundation and the 31st Northern Film Festival

The Media Art Friesland Foundation and the 31st Northern Film Festival (Noordelijk Film Festival in Leeuwarden) invite all artists, film-makers, producers, distributors, gallery owners, universities and institutions to submit their latest works. The Media Art Friesland Foundation will assemble a selection for the Frisian International Media Art Competition (FIMAC) and for several additional programmes such as solos and retrospectives

Works can be selected for:

• Frisian International Media Art Competition will present the most challenging and innovative video art works of the past two years. The laureate will be awarded for an outstanding audiovisual production, selected by an independent jury.

• Retrospectives or solo-programmes will give insight in the oeuvre of known and renowned artists. Special attention will be paid to the overlapping characteristics of film and video, two similar mediums for artistic expression and research, exploring the unlimited connections and differences between both.

The Northern Film Festival will take place from 11th till 15th of November 2009 and will present around 150 feature, documentary and experimental films and videos at several venues in the city of Leeuwarden and on the Terschelling Island.

All entries must arrive before July 26, 2009.
